PAST: Tues 12th Feb Life Drawing: Eros and Psyche Valentine's

AMC Valentine's themes are usually quite dark and Noire, however this year AMC founders Carla and Manko decided to embrace the subject of classical romance! The love story between Eros, the god of desire, and Psyche, the personification of the human soul, is probably one of the most wonderfully enduring in classical mythology, and has inspired museums-full of beautiful artwork through the centuries. This tale, the epitome of love, will take place on stage at The Underdog Gallery, embodied by Carla and Manko during this life drawing session just two days before Valentine's day. Eros (or, as the Romans knew him, Cupid), son of Aphrodite was obsessed with love and desire, always depicted shooting arrows at people‘s hearts in order to make them fall in love. Manko can't wait to create an androgynous version of this god god, seen as a powerful, yet mischievous angel. Psyche (or anima), was the most beautiful woman on earth, personifying the purity of the human soul, learning to find eternal happiness whilst transcending passion and misfortune. Psyche is human, often depicted with butterfly wings, symbolising the fleeting beauty of the human soul, and it's a perfect role for Carla. In this beautiful love story between Eros and Psyche, we see both the perseverance of Eros possessed by passion and the efforts of Psyche to overcome the many obstacles placed in front of her in order to experience the wonders of love. Can you think of a more beautiful way to celebrate Valentine’s day? Because we can’t! All levels welcome, join our friendly and social crowd of regulars! Full bar, and themed soundtrack.
