Luciano's work falls within the movement which appeared in the late 1970s in California known as Lowbrow Art or Pop Surrealism. This allows a field of creation where the characters are from the vintage custom world, the underground comics, films of science fiction or pop culture among others, always mixed with a dose of pessimism and post-apocalyptic connotations. His work is loaded with references to the 70’s, 80's and 90's as a yearning for a better past.
